This one blows me away - all the lines have the same amount of waviness and curviness all the way across - the zig-zag spikey nature of some of the lines is an illusion

I have one N95 mask. After using, I put it in a plastic bag, wash my hands and bake at 170F for 2 hours. My guess is that a half-baked mask is better than none. I would love to know whether baking at 170F reliably kills COVID-19 and whether it degrades the filtering by the mask.

a designer acquaintance assured me that this exact thing happens for every smaller brand redesign, only to a lesser degree. most corporate boards are spooked by creative intuition, so if a logo’s made in a day, even if it’s obviously perfect, they want to “show the math”

As an economist you constantly meet people like this. The difference is, you can never be 100% sure which one of you is the quack.

Yes, counterfactuals are hard and hindsight is 20/20 but I did express concerns last week: As the probability of market stress/malfunctioning now increases,I suspect the #Fed may regret having deployed the 50 bps cut too early -- and especially so given it was so poorly received.

LOL. Future me can do everything SO MUCH FASTER than current me. Especially if it isn't intellectually challenging, of course it won't take long!

Yes! Somehow I continue to believe against all evidence that future me has three times as many hours in the day as current me

Tips I have found the most helpful in my ongoing attempts to avoid academic overwhelm: 1) I can say no right away, but I have to wait 24 hours to say yes. 2) If it's an invitation/request with a date in the future, I imagine it's next week and evaluate it from that perspective.

When they start manufacturing genetically engineered neurons to integrate into computers, should those computers be considered humans with rights? How will religious groups answer question of whether such machines have a soul? What about implants into people to combat dementia?
