I find it quite shocking to hear a Labour Education Secretary describing universities as ‘businesses’ on @Channel4News. Is that what she really thinks they are?
Raising tuition fees adds extra pressure on students and does little to solve the university funding crisis. We need to replace this broken model with sustained, long term public funding. One where education is free for students and universities have adequate resources.
