An iconic city that is always changing. Yet remains wonderful. I ❤️ NYC❗️

On this note, I will put my iPhone away for a while and use it less today!
Reducing your smartphone use is better for your well-being than stopping cold turkey. Experiment: 4 months after decreasing smartphone use by 1 hr/day, people were happier, less depressed & anxious, and led healthier lifestyles. Digital moderation beats digital abstinence.
This used to be Perl in the early days of the Web in the 1990s and early 2000s. Then it was Ruby on Rails 2005-2015. TypeScript, Node, and React these days for most Web things. Python for AI/ML and system scripting.
Nothing that a little more JavaScript can’t quickly solve 😄.
Throughout human history, such etiquette was commonplace, ordinary, and expected behavior before smartphones become popular. Giving the other person your focus & attention when you were in their company was common courtesy and a sign of decency. Not doing so conveyed disrespect.
The most generous gift you can give to someone is your full attention.

I've been busy preaching for years that saying you are busy is not a useful nor good thing to say.
If someone is trying to impress by stating they are “busy”, that is ineffective. “Busy” often comes across as “disorganized”, “not in control of their own life and work”, “pretending to sound important”.
Hearing that someone is “busy" doesn't tell me anything interesting about their work or life. I care about people and take an empathic, caring, and friendly interest in them. I prefer a descriptive answer instead of “busy”.
When you ask someone how they are doing and they respond, “busy" that's an unhelpful answer. Here is why.
The people who say they are #busy, do they get important things done? Busy is not a good state to be in. 🧵👇
