Not every therapy session ends with a solution. Sometimes it ends in reflection. Sometimes it ends with tears. Sometimes it ends the realization that more work has to be done.

1/ When I consult on cases where psychotherapy feels stuck, the problem nearly always comes down to the same thing Form the get go, therapist & patient never reached a *shared* understanding about the purpose of the therapy Let alone clarified what the patient or client desires
Psychotherapy cannot undo the past. If we've been abused, neglected or otherwise mistreated, that's part of our lived experience that cannot be un-lived However, psychotherapy can help us put the past in the past so we don't have to keep reliving it
It's clichéd by now, but the best revenge is living well. I wanted vengeance for a long time against those who abused me but eventually, with a LOT of therapy, I realised it wouldn't make me whole. The abuse still happened, and it's up to me to accept that and move on.

Co-regulation is most successful when each person has developed their individual emotional states. BOTH people must be healed enough. If one person is constantly triggered bcuz they haven’t healed from prior relationships, they will project onto partner. #WITSI #TillTraumaEnds
