Could you imagine if everyone critiquing Ursula von der Leyen for her mistakes, criticised Boris Johnson, the Tories and the Brexit Party with the same vigour? Imagine if they held UK politicians to those same standards and shouted just as loud in order to hold them accountable?
So Trump goes today. A horrible and dangerous period of leadership ends. He normalised mistruth and divided a nation. Whilst they aren’t as bad as the Trump administration the current UK government have similar traits. This type of politics must end. Let’s hope today is the start
‘Brexit deal never made sense’ says man who negotiated it, signed it, prevented MPs from scrutinising it, campaigned for it and won a general election on the back of it:
Live scenes as Boris Johnson returns to his oven-ready Brexit deal:
Fleetwood Mac had the best campaign song ever - Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow - for @BillClinton campaign (OK, joint with Things Can Only Get Better) and here they are with the perfect song for @BorisJohnson latest move on Brexit

FT tomorrow on how no amount of Johnson spin is going to deaden the effects of Brexit.
Just a reminder. Dominic Cummings is unelected, he is not a member of the Conservative Party, he passed no civil service test. He owes his position of power entirely to the patronage of @BorisJohnson
This travesty of a government. They thought it would all be hedge funds, tax breaks, austerity and privatisation. Business as usual. People management. We would be guests in their unsinkable financial world. Now look. Useless, useless, useless.
The reason we're in deep trouble now: Boris was never up to the job of crisis leader. His role was figurehead. But his Cabinet can't fill the gap because they were chosen for Brexit loyalty, not competence. We're being led by bunch of inadequates. My col nytimes.com/2020/05/04/opi…
I rarely comment on politics here, and avoid publicly siding with one party (all pretty useless at the moment) because no one should give a shit about celebs opinions. But it’s hard to imagine a greater display of inept leadership and muddled thinking then Boris just displayed.
So many tweets today about "buy a newspaper, keep journalism alive" but why should we when it's still largely this ridiculous arrant balls. UK Papers have long abused the privilege of appearing decent and trusted. The cynical tabloid game is finished. Be gone. It's over.
Why is Farage not being dragged on the media to talk about the current emergency? They drag the old creep on to talk about everything else. Can't spin this fucking thing can you, creepo? Let's never hear from this shifty old fraud ever again.
