I know #AcademicChatter doesn’t like the idea that academia can be toxic but this is what trainees have to deal with. The costs are rising, the work is rising but the wage isn’t. Academia will only be attainable to the rich
I truly appreciate the reviewer's comments. They invest their time, knowledge and most of the time, is for free. However, today, I am very upset with the @CIHR_IRSC reviewer that wrote: "the amount for trainees appears excessive". I requested PhD student: 30k/year for 4y ...
The results of the world’s largest trial of a 4-day week (with no loss of pay) are out: ▪️ No drop in revenue ▪️ 65% fewer sick days ▪️ 71% less burnout ▪️ 92% of companies decide to keep the policy after the trial The conclusion is clear: we need a shorter working week.

Someone who knows everything about what I went through with Long COVID, now has it and is telling people “I didn’t think it could happen to me”… after I spent months telling y’all it can happen to you. Don’t be ableist, we can all become disabled at any time. You don’t choose.
100% of research labs have LAB MEETINGS. 0% are set up to enable everyone to have a voice. This is how we flipped them to increase engagement hear from everyone and save time...
Repeated COVID infections cause immune dysregulation, render vital components of immune system incompetent, allowing more invasive infections to take over. That's all we're seeing in kids these days. I said it!
Honestly managing long COVID can feel impossible some days and I can understand the reasons behind why these statistics are true. Always remember, not everyone has the privilege of health

This is great news but also very unfortunate for those of us ineligible for paxlovid treatment due to long COVID symptoms/damage
Is there anything we can do to prevent long COVID, once we catch the virus? Research by @zalaly and colleagues shows that Paxlovid treatment within 5 days of a positive test led to 26% less risk of #longCOVID, regardless of vaccine status. (1/2) medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
I wish one of the takeaway messages from the pandemic was IF YOU HAVE A COLD STAY AWAY FROM OTHER PEOPLE. People will sneeze or cough and then yell across the room “It’s not COVID, I took a test.” Okay bro, I don’t want to catch your flu or RSV either.
