Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society: Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

Watch live at 4:30 today as we co-host an event with the @APPGCW on the impact of pavement parking 5 years on from the Govt consultation 🚴🚶 Chair: @FabianLeedsNE Feat. speakers @livingstreets @TransportForAll @guidedogs @Tanni_GT @BlindDad_Uk youtube.com/@appgcw/streams

Through a tech bro lens this is a bug that needs fixing (even though the actual bug is large vehicles in congested cities, AV or not). For a visually impaired pedestrian trying to cross a side street, it’s an absolute disaster.

nobody is gonna yield for this waymo 😬

An article in the Financial Times argued that Britain should “fall in love with cars again” and invest in more motorways. Here’s why we the economic argument is flawed and why we should not, by @chaluny open.substack.com/pub/pineconomi…

Trapped in traffic and stuck travelling long distances to work because of car-centric planning? Be grateful, says Mercedes-Benz’s latest advert which aims to persuade us that spending two years of our lives stuck inside a car is somehow actually a good thing.

I'm not sure I like any part of this.

So apparently the food delivery robots ask pedestrians to push the crosswalk button for them and if you don’t press it they get stuck and can’t cross the street
