Imagine a world without God. What kind of world would that be? A horrible one of course! Because of God's presence, we have a chance to learn and choose righteousness. So long as God's presence is with us, there is always a chance to learn about Him and to become like Him.

Sometimes you just have to praise God. This doesn't mean bursting out in song all the time. Sometimes it is simply acknowledging God for how amazing He is. Isaiah understood the importance of praise. He praises God for His character, His deeds and His counsels.

History records both good and bad kings, queens and rulers, but it always seems as if the bad rulers make a stronger impact than the good. God will never let evil reign forever. He sees everything that is done and promises to reward everyone according to their deeds.

Babylon is a strong theme in the book of Isaiah. Directly addressed by God, this verse is just one of the many that speak about the splendor of the city and the greater destruction that followed. How seriously do you take heavenly warnings when it comes to your spiritual state?

Because of our sin, God punishes us, but if we look at this with Chapter 11 in mind, then we see, He has forgiven and restored His children. How often do you praise God? Are you praising Him now? Even when He is angry we should praise.

Isaiah presents these small glimpses of heaven that must have lit up his face as he realized what they were about. The prophecy about the Messiah alone would have brought joy, but the joy of the Messiah and an earth made new would be joy unspeakable.

God gives everyone every possible chance, every opportunity to turn to Him and the end only comes when nothing more can be done. In Assyria's case, God has done all He can do to redeem Assyria, but they have not heeded His call. Are you the same? Respond to God calling today.

The next time someone says that the OT shows a God full of anger, turn to these verses. Would an angry God stretch out His hand to offer help and hope? Sin needs to be punished since it cannot remain in God's presence but mercy, love and grace are extended through His hands.

Isaiah is giving present truth and good advice. You wouldn't give something valuable to someone who would not know the value of it. How much do you treasure your Bible? By locking these truths in your mind, they will be preserved and cherished in the way that honours God most.

Today seems like a day where the world honours Jesus, but the point of His mission was never to be honoured like we do with celebrities, here today, gone tomorrow. Instead of focusing on festivities, don't make the mistake of the Israelites and ignore the prophecies – study them.
