Ping me if you need help with building codemods. In the meantime, here are a few things to keep in mind: 1. Sure AI can help a lot in generating codemods, but you still need to have some knowledge of AST, ast-grep, jssg, and Codemod workflow to get to a useful codemod and know…

This is the realization I’m coming to more and more. Eslint rules > ai rules Not saying ai rules are bad, they’re really good, but when you have to say “don’t do this” “avoid that” this is where lint rules play a huge role. But for ai roles, it’s bigger picture stuff like…

Very bullish on lint rules over the next few years Anything that can be represented as an agents rule should instead be a lint rule, you since you get: - Clear error messages to the model - Actual enforcement of rules - Save on tokens in context

LLMs LOVE regex replace for bulk updates. (`sed -i` and node/python scripts) Unsurprisingly, syntax errors sometimes pop up. Regex replace is just too brittle for some changes. Telling it to use codemods went way smoother. Give it a try 😃

0. While ai can generate a lot, better if you have basic knowledge of ast-grep, jssg, and Codemod go.codemod.com/cli-docs 1. Install Codemod MCP and ask your ai agent to build a jssg codemod using Codemod MCP. Or use Codemod AI in Codemod.studio 2. Join our community…

Smart approach I've learned to using AI for version refactor changes: Have AI write the codemod, and then work with your agent back and forth for tuning the codemod. Seen this move a huge app from React 17 -> React 18, 15,000 lines of code and very small negative impact.

regex by @arktypeio is genius. Adopt it now. It’s just one CLI command away. (if you want to orchestrate this change across tons of repos and teams, ping me for a demo of @codemod Campaign.)

Great upgrade experiences keep frameworks relevant and drive adoption. At @codemod, we’re helping maintainers and their communities ship codemods for every release with less friction. docs.codemod.com/quickstart Let me know if you have any feedback

Whenever I work with @angular I'm reminded just how nice it is to do major version upgrades without headaches. Their codemods are just so incredibly powerful, and it's a huge testament to their thoughtfulness in approach
