A "unique-to-Dulles experience" that somehow hasn't been replaced with something a lot better -- like a walk way or an underground rail system -- in over 60 years? wapo.st/43p0S7W

Not sure how this solves today's problems since you'd have to change all contracts for mortgages owned by the GSEs. Legally cumbersome and presumably quite expensive. Assume the government would have to pay the existing MBS investors a fortune to compensate them for the decline…

Federal agency considering allowing portable mortgages, which would give consumers option to keep their cheaper interest rate when they buy a new house, as well as hold onto their existing balance.

The reappointment process for Fed presidents can be a little unpredictable, I suppose. wapo.st/448psdt

New: Atlanta Fed president Raphael Bostic is stepping down at the end of his term in February, the bank announced Wednesday.

Trump’s regulators are giving Wall Street a lot of what it has long wanted -- looser leverage requirements, less stressful "stress tests," relaxed capital requirements (compared to what Biden regulators proposed but never finalized). Lighter-touch supervision. Relaxing rules now…

Wild story about a man fleeing middle age life, expectations and family. Happens to have happened around the corner from where we spend a lot of time in the summer visiting family.

Police spent more than 50 days searching a lake for Ryan Borgwardt, a kayaker they assumed had drowned. Then they told his wife that they’d come to believe something different. @ThompsonJamieL spoke with the people involved in the case that rattled a Wisconsin town:…

“The first speaker to serve multiple terms since the 1950s, Pelosi was known for bending the chamber to her will through brute strength and keeping her often narrow majority in line through a combination of persuasion and fear of punishment.” washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/…

Wild the president is repeating this data point, which is false and a(n intentional?) misreading of data. “Almost 2 million American-born workers are employed today more than when I took office,” Trump said in his economy speech this afternoon. Some detail on why this is off…

“Sauer’s comments were striking because for months the president has repeatedly celebrated the revenue gained from the 10 percent universal tariff he has imposed on all foreign goods and the higher levies he has applied to products from specific nations.” washingtonpost.com/business/2025/…

This idea senators will reach a deal on opening government & then take 4-5-6 days to process it & open up is beyond insane. There’s a bill right there in Senate to open up Nov 21. Already passed House. Just approve that, drive to WH, sign it. Open up. Worry about rest later.

IF there's an agreement to end the shutdown this week, Republicans think it might take several days to process "Even if they came to us tomorrow or today and said, OK, we've got an agreement. It's got to clear both sides to do it quickly. There will be at least one objection on…
