Is Tech Twitter centralized? 75 % of accounts I follow are in the US. I speak 🇯🇵/🇺🇸/🇨🇳 all comfortably, and I'm surprised my follows are so skewed to 1 country. The numbers would be even more crazy if you adjust by population
Is Tech Twitter centralized to NYC and SF? X is "nominally" an even playing field to follow interesting people wherever they are. Turns out the people I follow are mostly in NYC and SF.

I'm working on a keyboard which can "type anything". Today, in 5 seconds on my normal keyboard, I can type the gravity equation F = Gm₁m₂ / r² How was this so hard all this time?
Why did we decide that computers can't type math, and that's somehow completely OK? Moreover, that we should instead all install and use some hard-to-use piece of software, which only exists to type out math? Looking at you, LaTeX
When asked to give the pronunciation of English place names, Claude gets 96 % correct (1 % error margin). I wonder how it does in other countries with awful place names.... Ireland Japan Massachusetts
If you read Crémieux's article... You might wonder if modern population decline correlates with our increasingly centralized states. The correlation is weak at best
This has major institutional implications! It might even play a huge role in China's tendency to be a large, unified regime and ultimately why it fell behind Europe technologically. To learn more, go check out my latest article: cremieux.xyz/p/from-caveman…

I see loads of potential with AI-generated music. But for now, all of these lyrics sound like they were made by a Europop band speaking only the 500 most common words in English. sonauto.ai
Rare graph! What does it show really?
This is one of the most fascinating charts I’ve ever seen. Been staring at it all morning trying to draw assumptions from it
Small sample size anecdotal observations from my network: Young tech/startup people who moved to Miami coming back to SF Older people who moved to Miami staying there People who moved to NYC, Austin, and more outdoorsy places staying there

This is what an MVP should look like.
this is the very first version of the "Europe" Wikipedia article from 23 years ago, back when you could just write "some more" when you got sick of typing
Why does typing ~ during SSH not produce ~ on the command line immediately? Answer 👇
For example, if you ssh to host 1, then from host 1 you ssh to host 2, while on host 2 you can press ENTER and then ~ (nothing happens), ~ again (nothing happens), ~ again (a "~" appears), this tells you that you are 3-hosts deep (counting the one you originated from)
This comic from 2014 has aged wonderfully.
