Climate change: Science failed to predict flood and heat intensity - BBC News
Scientists want a super-computer powerful enough to accurately project the most damaging extremes.
”Prof Bill McGuire, for instance, from UCL, told me: ’The obvious acceleration of the breakdown of our stable climate simply confirms that - when it comes to the climate emergency - we are in deep, deep s***!’” #FaceTheClimateEmergency bbc.com/news/science-e…
Just from today. There will be more disturbing reports tomorrow, and they will keep getting more frequent until we do something about it. The climate crisis is here, right now, and we have to act, right now.
Great interview with @MichaelEMann and the BBC. The cost of doing nothing about #ClimateChange is much bigger than the cost of fixing the problem now. Ask anyone in risk management: better to mitigate a risk than let it crystallise michaelmann.net/sites/default/…
.@SenSchumer: “It’s past time that the federal bench reflect more accurately the true depth & breadth...the legal profession has to offer. It’s about time that civil rights attorneys, federal defenders, and voting rights experts – like Myrna Pérez – join the ranks.” #ConfirmMyrna

Ironically, the ineptitude that some Republicans demonstrate re: MLK proves that the multiracial history of the United States *isn’t* taught adequately enough in schools, and that we *should* teach it more deeply. The GOP would do well to stop banning books & start reading them.
I don't suffer trolls or fools. Both get blocked. These are serious times and they call for serious conversations. There's no time to waste on buffoonery and chicanery.
So it’s official. Unless the EU tear up their new #Fitfor55 package, the world will not stand a chance of staying below 1,5°C of global heating. That’s not an opinion, once you include the full picture it’s a scientific fact. #MindTheGap between words and action.

While this may seem obvious to residents of CA's mountain and foothill regions, this may actually & understandably come as a surprise to a majority of the state's population--since most folks live closer to the coast, near SF & LA, where June temps were much closer to avg. #CAwx
The difference between 1.5°C, 2°C or 3-4°C average global warming can sound marginal. In fact, they represent vastly different scenarios for the future of humanity. (Thread 1/5) #ClimateEmergency
