It isn’t going to be a new chain, a new token, or a new L2 that makes crypto hit the stratosphere again. Those alts will languish forever until all your data belongs to you. Every iota of value flows from that central concept 💰
Hey billionaires! Yeah, you! Your devices are funneling data to your corporate enemies. You think you’re not being listened to? Sovereign data affects everyone in society, including the hyper-wealthy.
The IoT…fridges, factories, cars and tractors. The hivemind machine. But where’s the data? At one central mastermind service charging for access to APIs - that’s where.
Restaking…hmm 🤔 Degens love the yield. Devs love free security. Yet neither are sovereign. And users pay more rent.
Shared security is concentrated security. The more protocols depend on the same validators, the harder the fall when that validator fails 🍂
NFTs can be so much more than a collectible. They could be credentials, provenance trails and composable identity. They could be digital transferable tickets to a host of very real world experiences. 📣BUT THE DATA ITSELF NEEDS TO BE SOVEREIGN 📣
Restaking is the opposite of resilience. It turns Ethereum into a security monopoly and every app on it is slave to a single small set of validators who are paying off all the smaller delegators to back their monopoly. Let's build Web3 properly with sovereign data.
No Web3 system - be it token slashing, royalties, community enforcement through Discord, grant digital ownership, just maybe a social rendition of one. Add sovereign data, then NFT communities can actually do something with their JPEGs.
Web2 ransacked the internet, and Web3 emerged to take it back. Yet it hasn’t - financialization got ahead of infrastructure, leading to rent-seeking loops emerging everywhere. Here's how Source Network helps rebuild the internet that was promised. open.source.network/blog/rent-is-d…

Data-layer enforceability is the secret sauce to actual digital ownership 🍲
NFTs were an incomplete prototype. They proved the demand for digital ownership - now we just need to actually deliver it. Sovereign data is that ownership.
Restaking might promise free yield, but every extra layer just centralizes trust more and more around singular pressure points. If you re-use security - you lose security. ❌
.@Eigenlayer at least shows admission of Web3’s failing infrastructure. Yet their solution struggles via a cartel of validators. Distribute trust at the data layer - don’t compound it at the consensus.
Truly resilient systems come from infra where security doesn’t centralize in the first place. True cooperation is when every participant in the system independently trusts that system and the operations taking place within it. Independent verifiability is the real mission. 🔍🕵️
DeSci doesn’t ‘free science’: it just tokenizes the gatekeepers, weaponizing science investment even more than it already has been. Shared sovereign data is the solution these accidental blockchain cartels need to truly democratise science.
PSA: Free Yield is Never Free. Everything has a price - you just haven’t worked out what it is.
Web3 misunderstood something vital: It’s not scarcity alone that creates value. Functionality creates value 🔧 Scarce and functional - then you go parabolic 📈 So much of Web3 would be instantly more valuable if they used Source to make their data sovereign and their utility…
