Roughly 99.99% of games of Go ever played are AI self-play training games. So if you ever find yourself playing Go that means you’re probably an AI.

My pal got pulled over in fog. The cop said “What do we do when we encounter Mr Fog, sir?” Flustered, my mate says “I guess we put our foot on Mr Brakes and pull over into Mr Slow Lane, officer”. The cop says, “No sir, I said “What do we do when we encounter MIST OR FOG?!!!” 😂

RIP the legendary Tom Stoppard. Among his more famous achievements, he radically rewrote Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (under the pen-name Barry Watson), adding most of the thrilling beats and hilarious gags. One of my favourites: the cut to Brody, after being hyped up as…

Christians do not call burial places “necropolises”, that is, “cities of the dead”, but “cemeteries”, which literally means “sleeping places”, places where one rests, awaiting the resurrection.

every moment that the ports of oakland and LA remain shitty analog human scale, 9-5 & closed on weekends, instead of a fully automated alien behemoth running around the clock is prosperity stolen from you and your country by unions and regulations. it’s embarrassing

love george lucas bc he just inexplicably has the exact preoccupations of an 18th century democratic-republican. like why was bro making movies about tariff policy, the dangers of standing armies, and the perfidy of centralizing court party monocrats

Jane Goodall died today. While smarter and more informed people will talk about her work, I want to share a snippet from her Wikipedia page - the two greatest paragraphs ever on Wikipedia. The first parts are amusing and interesting, but the last sentence elevates it to high art.

Incredible to me how the universe balances everything out. For instance, last month we had to replace our roof. That was $14k. But then this week, we find out our son needs braces which will cost about $6k. Now the water heater isn't working. Maybe this was a bad example.
