We’re witnessing the destruction of elven/techno-civilization, and the only ones who are capable of mourning it, of keeping it alive in their memories, are disappearing

Translation: “I don’t realize that processors these days can do 30 billion ops per second”

No, we have shitty slow sw because: some people choose convenience over speed (see web tech, python, etc) people like you who spend their time looking for performance gains where it doesnt matter instead of where it does

Raylib is awesome We should teach all CS students game programming in C instead of this Java and Python nonsense

raylib is the best way to start C programming. Kinda reminds me the old C64 era, when you could have quick and visible results as a newbie, with minimal coding. Now also comes with software rendering, so you can run it on some shitty dev board and render to some small oled :)

Programming should be more like gardening and less like architecture. As the codebase grows in size and complexity you can trim and gently enforce boundaries where they’ve naturally arisen.

Am I in tpot?

Good code should make sense once you’ve spent time learning the code base. It should run fast for the end user. Abstraction and OOP are all antithetical to good code. It doesn’t make code easier to understand it makes it harder.

A Rant about a particularly careless and naive youtube video that shall remain un-named.

A church bell and an Islamic call to prayer are not the same thing. A church bell simply marks the time. The call to prayer is making a statement: the Islamic god is the one true god. It’s saying that only Islam should be followed.

I think the tension here has less to do with the principle of religious freedom and more to do with the sense many (most?) islamic americans are seeking fundamental change in a country where they just arrived

It is not plausible that your designers couldn't design an experts-only feature that novices wouldn't "inadvertently" use, @amanda_lango. If your intention is to force everyone to have a Microsoft account for your own internal business reasons, have the integrity to say so.

It’s cool until you bang your shins really hard and can’t find your glasses for the life of you

In the future people will be far more racist than they are now. They’ll look back on our quaint anti-scientific views and smirk.
