As someone so succinctly put it on reddit:
Remote work risks wiping $800 billion from the value of office buildings in major cities worldwide by 2030 as the post-pandemic trend pushes up office vacancy rates and drives down rents, according to a new report cnn.it/3XSbhov
We only built 30% of the bike lanes required by law...however, we are blaming cyclist fatalities on e-bike riders, or perhaps motorists. It's certainly not the fault of our incompetent commissioner, @Ydanis Rodriguez who was appointed solely because he is a friend of our Mayor.
While we know that preventing these fatalities starts with safer street designs, we must use all available tools in our toolbox. This means helping e-bike riders build skills and better understand how to safely operate their bikes; educating motorists about sharing the road; and
This is stakes reporting. @axios on preparations to install a "pre-vetted, pro-Trump army of up to 54,000 loyalists across government to rip off the restraints imposed on the previous 46 presidents." axios.com/2023/11/13/tru…
If Hamas was hiding in Tel Aviv, would it be acceptable to indiscriminately bomb Tel Aviv killing 4,000 children, 10,000 civilians, 24 journalists and 70 UN colleagues?
Israel has broken SIXTY TWO United Nations Resolutions with absolutely no consequences. Iraq broke two and got invaded and destroyed by the United States for 8 years.
genos = group, tribe, race, clan cide = killing A targeted campaign to slaughter an ethnic, national, religious, racial group is genocide. The number of people who survive genocide, their rate of population growth, etc. doesn't define genocide. Intentional group massacre does.
This is not journalism.
CNN's @FareedZakaria on journalists who have embedded with the IDF in Gaza: "As a condition to enter Gaza under IDF air support, outlets have to submit all materials and footage to the Israeli military for review prior to publication. CNN has agreed to these terms...."
Headline "Explosion Gazans Say was Airstrike Leaves Many Casualties in Dense Neighborhood" @nytimes isn't sure where these explosions came from. They could be spontaneous 🤷🏽♀️ Probably NOT by the IDF burning people with white phosphorus & dropping the equivalent of a nuclear bomb
No mention in the headline, the tweet or the article itself what party was responsible for the airstrike

Listen if someone is going to be a single-issue voter, “not doing a genocide” is a pretty reasonable single issue
The “would you have urged America to show restraint after 9/11” question is so insane to me because not only did millions of people do just that, but I don’t think anyone in history has ever been as thoroughly vindicated as them.
The issue here isn’t the literal accuracy of the reporting. It’s not inaccurate. But accuracy isn’t truth, per se. The truth is that it’s badly off the rails and New Yorkers should know. That’s why a “free press” matters. How it’s all presented and the cues sent matter!
At the same time, they treat the corruption as a political problem. They don’t examine why it matters. It’s just taken as a given. There’s no analysis coverage of why payoffs and corruption make for bad results for the city. I know that seems basic, and it is! Why not do stories?
The times story that covered the political implications of the fbi raid said something to the effect of “New Yorkers have a high threshold for public corruption, but this may become a problem.”
Right now, there seems to be a lot of coverage of the raid. But are they going to shift the manner in which they cover Adams? That is, are they’re going to keep up a pretense that his Mayoralty isn’t wildly off tracks?
Essentially it’s the same thing as with Trump: it’s obvious this isn’t “normal” and shouldn’t be acceptable. Basic social problems are being worsened or unaddressed. A firehose of lies and bullshit.
In their minds, they are asking the tough questions of people in power. That is their summary of "the point." A second purpose in this case was to promote a new host of Meet the Press. I know how supericial and clueless that sounds, but you asked me to describe their thinking.
Just a reminder that having had Covid before means you’re one of the vulnerable people he’s talking about. Your lungs, heart, & immune system have been impacted by exposure, you’re more likely to have diabetes in the aftermath. So to say the vulnerable will fall, that’s you, babe
Fauci to BBC: "Even though you'll find the vulnerable will will fall by the wayside, they'll get infected, they'll get hospitalized, and some will die. It's not going to be this tsunami of cases that we've seen." So disappointing. Never ok to minimize the harm of any community.
