I most definitely agree but to quote Dijkstra: "Simplicity is a great virtue but it requires hard work to achieve it and education to appreciate it. And to make matters worse: complexity sells better."
I wrote a blog post on Erlang, a badly kept secret. Many have heard of it, but few realise that it controls vast amounts of infrastructure, including the fixed and mobile networks we all use on a daily basis: erlang-solutions.com/blog/which-com… #erlang #elixirlang
Good morning #JOTB19! Here are my slides: thepracticaldeveloper.com/conferences/jo… If you have any question or feedback about the talk just shout! Enga a disfrutar la semana 😄

I'm thinking about writing a new book on microservices where each page is delivered separately and there's no guidance on how to stick them all together.
I love re-living the 60s. So excited that Microsoft is releasing Unix (Linux) and Terminal. #FarOut
I think the backdoor issue's been solved 🤔
Please read Goodbye Joe by @mononcqc ferd.ca/goodbye-joe.ht… #rememberingjoe
It is with great sadness that I share news of Joe Armstrong's passing away earlier today. Whilst he may no longer be with us, his work has laid the foundation which will be used by generations to come. RIP @joeerl, thank you for inspiring us all.
Here's the moment when the first black hole image was processed, from the eyes of researcher Katie Bouman. #EHTBlackHole #BlackHoleDay #BlackHole (v/@dfbarajas)
We are really proud of having a 100% bokeron speaker in #JOTB19 Don't be such a mahareta to miss @moises_macero 's talk about the six pifalls of building a Microservice Architecture buff.ly/2UhEHxZ
watching this, can't shake both the boyish wonder and the existential terror
Breaking production is a hugely traumatic experience for new engineers. It shouldn't be. Easily breakable system isn't the fault of the person who happened to be there when it broke. It's an indicator that something else is broken. Lack of automation, docs, security, etc. etc.

Pinterest spends $125 million per year with AWS, Lyft spends $96 million. Yet, AWS still listens to developers spending $2 / month. This is something mediocre execs at other companies will not understand.
"...the kindest, wisest wish we have for the young must be: we hope that your period of immersion in group lunacy, group self-righteousness, will not coincide with some period of your country's history when you can put your murderous and stupid ideas into practice"
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. —Steve Jobs
