I'm sorry, but I am never doing passkeys.

Passkeys as 2FA are incredible - domain locked like a Yubikey but way more convenient and harder to steal. I am concerned about passkeys replacing passwords for sophisticated high-risk users, as then their Apple or Google account becomes a SPOF, even more so than it already is.

Haven't heard of Yubikey, I will have to look into it.

Yeah, I don't ask for them but they are everywhere... Go away

Nope, my password is Monkey12345 - close.

I just like UN/PW better, and some sites opted me in without me even asking

I like “synced” passkeys that live across all your devices with your password manager (Apple Keychain for example). I don’t like when passkeys only live on the first device you set it up on. If I’m on the toilet with my iPhone why do I need to go get my iPad out of the kitchen…

Good to hear, seems like a useful case.

Also let me create a password. Enough with this we will email you a code everytime you want to login nonsense.

Yeah, I hate that one too.

I prefer failkeys.

Something happened? Or just on principle?

Principle, I guess, I just like UN/PWs, maybe I'm just old.

I held that view until about a week ago. As a supplemental method, they do seem pretty convenient. Being able to take a random device (eg daughter’s iPad) and access my GitHub by pointing my phone at a QR code is way easier than trying to somehow get my lengthy password entered.

Yeah, same here. I am traditional in that regard.

No need to apologise for being sensible.

They stop phishing. It’s one of those things anyone could fall for after a bad nights sleep.

I caved eventually 🤣

Every time I try to make it work, it doesn’t.

They're really convenient IMO. And more secure than a psw
