On October 12th, 1988, after leaving Apple, which he co-founded with Steve Wozniak, Steve Jobs introduced the NeXT computer featuring several firsts for personal computers, such as an optical storage disc and built-in digital signal processor for voice recognition. #history
On October 11, 1999, NVIDIA released the GeForce 256, widely regarded as the world's first graphics processing unit (GPU). #nvidia
On October 2, 1955, the ENIAC was officially retired after 11 years of service. Built by the University of Pennsylvania for the U.S. Army during World War II to calculate complex ballistics tables. Following the war, the machine aided in the development in the Hydrogen Bomb.
On October 1, 1958, NASA was born, shaping space exploration. Its early triumph: developing the Mercury-Redstone rocket, which in 1961 propelled Alan Shepard to 116.5 miles altitude, proving suborbital flight feasibility.
