.@GDSTeam The domains user register.gov.uk (for example register.register.gov.uk) that redirect to the Archived Registers seem to have disappeared. Is this a temporary outage? Thanks!
Someone just robbed Waitrose whilst I was at the till paying for my lunch. The cashier raised his eyebrow at the monitor but couldn't do much There were lots of middle-class cries of "He's stolen the Prosecco" from over by the door.
This is an excellent read for anyone who has ever wondered what all the fuss about DACs in Digital Audio is all about.
Randomly came across the in-depth information on DACs that I wanted about 18 months ago electronics.stackexchange.com/a/636993

The Tripitaka Koreana - carved on 81258 woodblocks in the 13th century - is the most successful large data transfer over time yet achieved by humankind. 52 million characters of information, transmitted over nearly 8 centuries with zero data loss - an unequalled achievement. 1/

i have been playing around and experimenting with histograms and quantile sketches a common theme is some kind of logarithmic bucketing, so the sketch can store a wide range of values with reasonable relative precision, e.g. 1%
i like the look of this UDDSketch algorithm from @rebeljam et al. github.com/cafaro/UDDSket… arxiv.org/abs/2004.08604 similar to datadog’s quantile estimation algorithm, but with bucket collapsing that assumes less about the statistical distribution
