I bought an identical thermostat for the heating. Hid the real one & set it to 18°c & left the false one in usual place so my wife can turn it up to 25°c + with no affect .

It's hilarious how many interviewers make a candidate use a whiteboard or scratch pad, with no web search or our tools, when that's not how we work on the job.
We are memorizing fewer things because relying on human memory alone is both fragile and inefficient. So we have auto-complete and abstractions removing a useless need for real-time knowledge like HTML syntax.

Currently products brag about being "smart". Like my coffee cup warmer that had me download an app, sign up for an account and ask for location permissions before it would warm my coffee. A future where products brag about being "dumb" must be coming and can't come soon enough.
