So this is now, officially, real. It is a labor of love for hoops, edited w/ @johnhollinger. The great @ShotDrJr did the thing, combing through each of the 100 essays from our incredible NBA staff at @TheAthletic. Pre-orders available now; drops 11/26. Humbly, it's a good read.
At Commanders-Broncos Sunday night: Washington will wear Super Bowl era alternate uniforms. Honorary captains: Doug Williams, Charles Mann, Dexter Manley. Toys for Tots: team will collect new, unopened toys/$$$ at Gates A, D, E, and H from 6p – end of first quarter. And:
Modern day football. I get it. But going for it on fourth and 3 from midfield up seven with 90 seconds left...hey, big Aunt Bunny catch by Dontayvion Wicks to seal it. #iykyk
PMers: CJ McCollum got on a heater (46 points) Tuesday, leading the Wizards past Atlanta for their first-ever Cup win. It was a reminder of what Washington could look like with a lead frontman that brings out the best from the band. In @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/68380…
It's a real, real honor to be included with this group – most of whom still speak with me. :-)
Dan Quinn says that this week is for starting the ramp-up for Jayden Daniels, though it's very unlikely he'll play Sunday. Concurrent w/that is the opinion of the medical staff on when Daniels can go full in practice: "Until that happens, you can't really take the next step."
Per Dan Quinn, the Commanders are close to a "full crew" again. That includes Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown, who are practicing this week; how full they're going wasn't detailed.

Wizards break their 14-game losing streak, and win for the first time in 10 tries in NBA Cup play over the past two-plus seasons, with a 132-113 win over the Hawks at Capital One Arena. C.J. McCollum goes for 46 points, on 10 of 13 shooting from 3. Alex Sarr adds 27 and 11.
So, the Wizards are struggling this season. But they're up 111-78 over Atlanta after three quarters. If they don't get outscored by 34 in the fourth, this will be their first win at home since last April 2, over Sacramento. They've lost eight straight at Capital One since then.
Hawks' current starting lineup – Jalen Johnson (1), Dyson Daniels (5), Nickeil Alexander-Walker (7), Kristaps Porziņģis (8) and Zaccharie Risacher (10) – could have the lowest jersey number total in the league, at 31.
PMers: The NBA’s first month has featured great performances from expected (OKC) & unexpected (Daniss Jenkins!!) sources. But there have also been injuries to multiple superstars. What will the league & its key stakeholders do about it? In @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/68335…

The most successful high school in the history of the United States .... just keeps being successful. #OneDeMatha
DeMatha wins 20-13. The school's 26th title in football, 19th under Bill McGregor.
Absolute dominance from @AU_Volleyball all season, and throughout the @PatriotLeague tournament. Straight sets over Army in the PL final. Seventeenth straight win this season. Seventeenth PL championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Go Eagles!
Cool news: the Commanders will play another international game in 2026, this time as the home team. Not-so-cool news: the Commanders are raising many of their ticket prices for 2026. Both per our @NickiJhabvala, in @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/68254… nytimes.com/athletic/68240…
