Pakistan reported no case of polio in the past six months which has never happened before. This is the closest it has come to achieving the goal of polio eradication and has also shown consistent decline in the number of positive environmental samples.

1/2 Good news on polio front. For first time all sites undertaking environmental testing for wild poliovirus in Pakistan & in Afghanistan near the border have concurrently shown ZERO presence of the wild polio virus. Plus we’ve also gone 14 weeks without a wild poliovirus case
Wild polio cases for 2021 as of May 5, 2021 is 2. There was 1 in Pakistan and 1 in Afghanistan. Wild polio cases in 2020 were 140. There were 84 in Pakistan and 56 in Afghanistan. Wild polio cases in 2019 were 176. There were 147 in Pakistan and 29 in Afghanistan.
It's no surprise that misinformation about vaccines thrives on social media. A Facebook study of that problem, as reported by The Washington Post, contained some remarkable elements: For instance, half of all vaccine-hesitant content came from just 111 FB users out of 2.8b users.
