I think it’s time for me to tell my full story. It might lose me some followers but so be it.
I’d like to clarify a few things. 1. What I did was bad, really bad. I deserved the time I got. It’s really hard for me to provide a blow by blow of what happened. Just please take my word, I got what I deserved.
2. I appreciate all of the kind words more than you can know. But I’m not a “hero”, or “courageous”...I’m an idiot. I should be a counter point...and example of what NOT to do.
3. My ONLY motivation for this post was to maybe help someone in a similar situation. If I knew it would grow this big I probably wouldn’t have posted it.
4. I realize and I have eluded several times to the fact that part of this is because I am a white male. I have tried to help mostly minorites and women to learn to code because I recognize my privilege. And I’ve been helping people since I got out.
God is great (and so is your wife😂) nobody who gets Grace deserves it. Yet you have shown clearly how much you appreciate it! 🙌🏻 Look at all the people you are helping already. Thank you, this is very inspiring! ✌🏻
Our entire world is better for hearing your story, Tim. Thank you.
Don’t let anyone put down your success through hard work because of your “privilege”. You are still an example of what many can do to better themselves. Anyone who says otherwise isn’t helping to find ways to make this a reality for more people, they are a part of the problem.
No Tim. You worked for this. Your only privileges are your work ethic and your mind.
Much respect to you for making it through. Your story reflects on the strength of your character. Keep moving forward, best wishes to you and your family; and thank you for sharing your story and inspiring others. A book maybe?
You’re a white male so you got to work your ass off for 5 years? You didn’t get shit for free based on your skin or gender. Fuck everybody saying anything different. They are weak and placing blame, externally. You’re strong, unconditionally. Be proud!
Powerful to see the power of redemption. Life is full of mistakes. Sometimes really bad ones. Glad to hear your story and hope it brings light to others that may be struggling in a similar manner.
You faced your demons, and are grateful for a loving family. It means you are a good person. Congratulations
Words can't describe how inspired and encouraged I am..Thank you for not keeping this to yourself..there are people out there going thru something similar or even worse..I hope someone somehow shares this with them..it's never too late, when there is life there is hope.
Brother. I’m so glad I took the time to read your thread. I’m inspired, and grateful for your having shared this.
If there's one person I want to follow it's YOU . Keep going .
I know this post is old, but thanks for this. I'm glad I'm jobless for the moment otherwise I wouldn't have come across this, hell I saw it on someone else's TL. My comment would probably be lost in the seas of felicitations and the likes. Asides earning a follower, I've also....
Thanks for your story. You are an inspiration. That you could recognize the difficulties faced by women and minorities while dealing with your own difficulties speaks volumes about your character.
I hope @shanselman seen this stuff. It's amazing. I absolutely hate alcohol induced rage fits, seen them more times than i wish upon anyone. It does however not exclude there being a good person underneath it all. Keep up the good work. And check out #blazor ;)
Great story, but could do without original sin of "white privilege". Women and minorities are highly sought after in tech to the point that there's actual discrimination against white men. We can help women and minorities without crippling men and white people.
God Bless you, your wife & your daughter. You’re a good man, who made mistakes and learned from them. Keep moving forward.
Thanks for sharing your story., very inspiring. To me, it just goes to show that white privilege is a myth. youtu.be/QsZu8d7mSPc
Tim, Thanks for your openness and honesty, I hope/pray that your hard work will continue to have positive results regardless of your circumstances. Best regards, J
The fact that you acknowledge what you've done is wrong already makes you a decent guy. You've done the crime, served your time, come out of it and worked so hard and you are absolutely deserving and inspiring. Thank you for sharing! Ps your wife is adorable
Hey, Tim. I am very proud of you although I have never even met you! Very inspiring story.
Be the change you wish to see in the world. Seems you have followed that mantra. Blessings!
Hi Tim. I dont know you, but your story is inspiring!! You should be a professional speaker to help those in the same type of situation!! I pray for you and your family.. you deserve the best...❤️
So rare to find a person who stands still, looks within and takes responsibility for their actions. Most are looking for something or someone to blame. Hats off to you. God Bless. You will help others with your story
