Last night Keir Starmer attempted to rally his MPs to support deep welfare cuts. A Labour MP with a disabled daughter expressed concern about the cuts, stating that cuts would have a huge impact on his family. Keir Starmer blanked him. It didn't go down well.
It is incredibly unlikely that our son Thomas will ever work. He has multiple complex disabilities and will require lifelong care. That doesn't make his life any less valuable. Liz Kendal and Kier Starmer want to cut his benefits whilst Kim Leadbetter wants to end his life.
A lot of the people saying "omg this Gene Hackman thing is so sad" turn around and insist that disabled people whine too much about the lack of support. These people were RICH and went out like this, how do you think the ones working with scraps are handling similar?
It does F*CK me off how Labour are now attacking those on welfare. It’s not people on UC who bought yachts and mansions instead of delivering decent PPE. It’s not people on benefits who delivered £12B in useless PPE. It’s not people on benefits evading £5B in tax each year.
if @UKLabour want to save money on disability benefits they could stop the DWP from re-assessing people with lifelong/genetic/degenerative conditions every 3 - 5 years & reinstate the lifetime award, instead of wasting money/bureaucracy on hounding disabled people for a pittance
i will never understand the nazi-level hatred for sick and disabled people, if there is one demographic in society minding their own damn business it's people too unwell for work, literally everyone else is more belligerent and hostile than sick and disabled people
What’s next? How about sending extremely ill & disabled people to ‘work camps’ & close the doors on them while everyone else turns a blind eye. What’s happening right now makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach & so so angry.

If you think disability benefits are "too generous," try being #disabled in the UK. Try the heating bills. The inaccessible housing. The £975/month extra cost. The constant fear of reassessment. The suspicion that can boomerang back as hate against the self.
Seems like a good time to point out that the official fraud rate for PIP (the disability benefit) in 2024 was ZERO!! PIP has the lowest fraud rate of any benefit. So... why are Labour trying to push more disabled people off PIP???!!!
