In surgery I saw several patients with weakness decades on from their polio, so never believed the "viruses are self-limiting" mantra. I suspect they will be found to lay behind many diseases we now call autoimmune, unexplained or functional.

We're retreating into a self-chosen era of ignorance: "We know the virus is spreading very well in children in the germ-fest that is the school playground." It's not the playground where the virus is spread. IT'S THE CLASSROOM. 🤬
Flu strains are more likely to drift or mutate when someone who is immune suppressed catches it. If it takes longer to clear the infection, it gives the virus the more time and opportunity to drift. Just saying.
