🇰🇷 I'm amazed by the wonderful reviews I've got on my courses that were released by Inflearn in Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Chinese languages. 📈 My courses can now help 6 million developers to optimize their Java applications. inflearn.com/en/users/15960…

So I'm not a big fan of JUnit's MethodSource, it moves test arguments too far out of sight for my taste. CsvSource is pretty sweet though, in particular with text blocks. Nice intro, by @mikemybytes 👍. 👉 mikemybytes.com/2021/10/19/par…

Someone asked me how they could log request, response, status code for each Rest Client request in #SpringBoot. There is a way to do this with the underlying HTTP Client but here is a simple example of how to do it independent of that. github.com/danvega/rc-log…

Big news: I'm helping with @martinkl with a second edition of Designing Data-Intensive Applications! An early release of the first 3 chapters is now available (O'Reilly Learning subscribers only at this point) and we're hoping to finish it next year. learning.oreilly.com/library/view/d…
What an awesome reminder that capitalism drives prosperity & is the best tool to fight global poverty. Socialism achieves equality through equal misery. As @ricardo_hausman said so eloquently, Venezuela chose to "attack the invisible hand." Here is how that always turns out...
Every year, a lottery determines who gets an H-1B visa to work in the US. The game, it turns out, is rigged. Outsourcing and staffing firms are exploiting loopholes, crowding out US employers and immigrants who play it fair. We have exclusive data to show it for the 1st time 🧵

Realistically, I think a new edition of Effective Java will come at the end of 2025. Note that the first three editions were published 2001, 2008, and 2017, so I suppose 2025 would be right on schedule for the fourth.
Today I asked ChatGPT to solve almost every exercise in Think Python and DSIRP. It did. My conclusion: everyone who writes code should spend the next month doing professional development on writing code with LLM-assist. This is how code will be written from now on.

I recently implemented this weighted round robin algo where the only source of truth I could find was this code commit in NGINX, beautifully explaining how it works (github.com/phusion/nginx/…)

And about commenting, after I spent 20 minutes to come up with a bitmap copying algorithm that was optimized enough for different cases, I felt like recording my notes in the code. I wish more people would do that.

An under appreciated fact (slightly exaggerated in article below): With current move to @openai Triton, PyTorch 2.0 makes Nvidia software moat a bit weaker. AMD & Intel are working to support Triton, easier than reinventing whole CUDA / Bias stack. semianalysis.com/p/nvidiaopenai…
