If I were approached with an opportunity to be an early employee again, here's how I would do it. A thread 👇
YES. Honestly, I find that people (teammates, managers, colleagues, etc) don't do this enough; most people just give YOU direct feedback. I only realised how valuable and powerful this move was when a Design Manager I worked with relayed positive feedback about me upwards.☝️
If someone is doing amazing................. tell their boss
every senior designer walking around with a huge ego was once a young, emerging designer who never learned to humble themself. you either learn that skill when you’re young, or you never learn it at all. let it be a warning. we are all branches of the same tree.
Had a fun chat about this with a colleague last week: if there were 2 amazing candidates going for the same role at a company, one with better technical skills and the other with better soft skills...should the company hire based on technical skills or culture fit/soft skills??
hi just to inform y’all that our general covid floor and ICU is full, we’re holding patients in the ER and it’s super busy. all of my patients today were also positive. so a reminder TO WEAR YOUR DAMN MASK AND SOCIAL DISTANCE. thank you 🙂

I think lots of mentors (and people in general) consider "career goals" as something intangible and end up providing vague feedback/support - but honestly, “goals without deadlines aren’t goals; they’re merely directions.” Another great snippet from Crucial Conversations.
Re-reading Crucial Conversations again and it makes me think about the "difficult" convos I need to have soon... Takeaway 1: "The mistake most of us make in our crucial conversations is we believe that we have to choose between telling the truth and keeping a friend." Dang.

What a well-written and thoughtful article with lots of depth! Had to read it a few times. Design projects do not need to look "cool" or be super visually appealing to make long-lasting impacts. "Unboxing Chrome" - @san_toki medium.com/@san_toki/unbo…
