Today, we're introducing a new robots tag, indexifembedded, that brings you more control over when your content is indexed. developers.google.com/search/blog/20…
@johnmu @methode does this mean that if the embedded content has noindex but you want your page you are embedding it on to be indexed you can control that or the other way?
Is this an issue people are complaining about? I ask seriously because I've never had a client ask me about this ever. What I would like is a robot's meta tag that would allow us to prevent you from rewriting our title tags and descriptions that I would find immensely helpful.
Since you're doing meta robots tags why don't you add one so we can tell you not to rewrite our titles and descriptions -- because those rewrites? Actually caused revenue losses in more than a few cases.
But y'all still include robots.txt blocked pages in the index?
It would be great if you make a illustrative video to explain it and use case. A bit uncertain about it's implementation.
PERFECT for embedding PDFs into web pages. NoIndex the raw PDF, but the HTML page that has it embedded benefits from the content within the PDF. Thanks @googlesearchc (still waiting on a tag to prevent "Uploaded By" when embedding YT videos...)
That's an awful tag for accessibility. I struggled to read it myself.
Curious about a good use case for this. What are the incentives to not have your pages indexed and instead only have other site pages indexed with your content.
Greetings @JohnMu, what is the difference between indexifembedded tag and if I put the whole block between noindex tag? For example I can put my content between noindex and let iframe video indexing, in that case Google will not index content and video should be okay
Hi can you help me some post not doing indexed i requested many times but no response....
I don't know why after url tested, the page is ok to be indexed but no response for days, while other pages are indexed.
It is not that much effective....lol..Me working on SEO, figured out how to rank any keywords within hours then why do I've to focus on them? (I think I've point)
The leak of "noindexifembedded" it means that noindexifembedded is the default value and that a content embedded in a page (via iFrame) without indexifembedded isn't indexable?
love the flexibility. also curious on how rankings and content are influenced if you have 1 embed that's indexed on multiple pages.
@googlesearchc @JohnMu Guys, when you launched this x-robots tag, it was saying "value", not "content" (see the SS). Do you respect "value" or it should be "content"? Was it a typo?
