Yes, we have a plan to be big tech free on infrastructure in five years. But there aren't currently any suitable non-big tech clouds. We're also building out our on-prem work, but I'm very happy we are cloud for the past 2 weeks.

Apple has definitively approved HEY in the App Store!! No IAP, no 30% cut, but we’ve opened the door to a free temp address service, and use same app for work accounts. I’m so incredibly relieved! And now HEY is open to EVERYONE! No invite code needed 🎉❤️ hey.com
Wow! This is pretty significant. Apple will no longer ransom your bug fixes, and there's a new process coming for challenging the guidelines themselves. This is of course still Apple policing Apple, but it's an opening none the less for all developers ✌️ theverge.com/2020/6/22/2129…
When someone from Google writes an email that says "Hey and Google", excuse me for getting a little nervous that I might be facing another monopolist shake-down 😂
Not enough to warrant a monopolist shaking us down for 30% of our business. And it's not just about the money, it's also about voting with your feet when you're being abused.

common mistake I see people new to promises making is returning something in the .then function but not returning the promise itself:
(thread) what if we flipped hiring on its end... what if we made "candidate's desired work listing" sites instead of "job listing" sites, and if companies had to apply to the candidate and be screened to see if their job makes the cut?
Building a company I would kill to work for is so incredibly exciting and rewarding, so psyched for the future 🥳

Find Active Records using signed ids that are tamper-proof, can expire, and be narrowed with a purpose. Great for those email verification and password reset links. No more manually juggling SGIDs, persisting tokens, or using the MessageVerifier directly. github.com/rails/rails/pu…
Context switches are expensive. Protect your focus to stay in the flow, when you can. It's tempting to switch projects at a "stuck" point, like waiting on a build. Instead, keep working on something related (e.g docs, tests) to keep focus.
VS code users, great news! A MongoDB @code plug-in is now available. Get started in three easy steps: - Install the extension from the marketplace - Get a free Atlas cluster - Connect to it & start building a playground Learn more here: bit.ly/2WZxthu @mmarcon
People are asking… “If you go remote, do you pay people differently based on where they live?” We don’t. We pay everyone the same salary (top 10% San Francisco rates, based on role/level) no matter where they live. Remote isn’t a reason to pay less —> m.signalvnoise.com/basecamp-doesn…
