“That’s so cringe, babe.” 🙄 Four words that can snuff out a man’s spark, forever. Read before it happens to someone you love : bit.ly/CringeKillsJoy

Men aren’t just “quiet.” They were laughed at, interrupted, told to “stop being silly,” until silence felt safer. Suicide is 3x higher in men. We need to talk about this → bit.ly/CringeKillsJoy Blog → bit.ly/OneMoreDayBlog #MensMentalHealth #OneMoreDay

"I was playing with my daughter. My (then) wife walked in and told me I'm too old to play games, it's childish. I've been too afraid to be playful ever since." Real words, from a real man. bit.ly/CringeKillsJoy

It takes a lot more strength to show emotions than to hide them. Let's encourage our men and boys to share their emotions and their struggles, and support them when they do.

men’s mental health reminders a man struggling does not make a man weak, it's okay for men to show emotions speaking up when struggling shows strength, not weakness asking for help is normal and okay! speak up ❤️‍🩹

There's a Japanese proverb that says if you find yourself on the wrong train, get off as soon as you can. The further you go, the more expensive the return journey.

Men aren’t “emotionless.” They were taught to shut up. 1 in 5 men struggles with depression. You are allowed to speak. SADAG: 0800 567 567 bit.ly/TheBenchRemind… #onemoreday

From the other side: -symptomatic support for tight chest, shortness of breath -mild painkillers for headache -no YELLING about physical symptoms or freaking out -if he doesn't want to eat, don't force him -if he eats too much, offer healthier alternatives instead of nagging

Physical symptoms includes: • Tight chest • Headaches • No appetite or overeating • Moving through mud This doesn’t mean he's weak, it means his system is overwhelmed. #depressionawareness #EndTheStigma

You will get the same lesson, over and over, until you learn.

Remember.

From the other side: -if he snaps about trivialities, let it by -give him space and don't pressurise him -if he doesn't express emotions, let it be -offer support in a gentle way for the discomfort -DON'T TAKE IT PERSONALLY #EndTheStigma #understanding

Depression also manifests as anger and irritation: -Snapping at things that shouldn’t matter -Feeling like everyone is too much -Or feeling nothing at all -Uncomfortable in your skin, unable to pinpoint what is bothering you -Feeling like everything / everyone is in your way

When you're on the other side: -Don't pester him to do things "he used to" -If he needs to take more naps, let him -If he's irritable, don't take it personally -Encourage, don't nag, about small tasks -Sit with him quietly instead of complaining that he's withdrawn #NotTherapy

Depression in men very rarely looks like "crying all day". More often it’s irritation, distance, and shutting down. Signs: • Nothing feels enjoyable anymore • You feel tired even after sleep • Small tasks feel heavy • You withdraw instead of talk #EndTheStigma #onemoreday

"Don't be a child." Four words that made him pack away the Legos, forever. It was his favourite hobby. Now it's just gathering dust. A permanent reminder that his interests are "childish". bit.ly/CringeKillsJoy

Depression has physical symptoms too, it's not just "being sad". Tremors, shaking, feeling weak and feeling dizzy are all part of the Depression Package. Be mindful of that. #EndTheStigma #OneMoreDay

🗣️💜 #MenCanStruggleToo Let’s break these outdated stereotypes! Men experience sadness, shed tears, and battle mental illness just like anyone else. There’s no weakness in vulnerability; it’s a sign of humanity. It’s time we redefine what it means to be a “man”.

The idea that people fake mental health issues is so toxic and harmful. Telling someone who is suicidal that they're "attention seeking" only results in further isolation and hopelessness.

Avoid telling someone with mental illness : 'You’re faking it' 'Can’t you just choose to be happy?' 'Try and exercise' 'Other people have it a lot worse’ These dismissive phrases deepen the stigma around mental health, shutting down real understanding and support.

Suicide is the 10th biggest cause of death worldwide.

🚨 Suicide prevention 🚨 - We lose over 800,000 people per year to suicide - Suicide is the 10th biggest cause of death worldwide - Two of the leading factors that contribute to suicide is feeling like a burden and being isolated it’s not attention seeking or weakness
