IMO this is one of the many bad ideas in Christianity (though not all Christians believe this, so good on them I guess). This line of thinking potentially reduces agency, downplays suffering, judges people who aren't coping etc. Not everyone has to be a willing martyr.
Learning to handle suffering as a Christian is far more valuable than getting healing. Not to diminish healing at all. Itโs wonderful. But we all desperately need to learn to suffer well, with our hope in God and our eyes on Jesus.
I'm completely disillusioned with discussing religion with religious friends and family. Until now I've assumed a measure of good faith and honest inquiry. I've now realized that most of their minds are welded shut. There is no search for truth, only adherence to dogma.
Pet peeve: YouTube videos where the presenter has audible Discord, Steam, or WhatsApp notifications popping up in the background. It ALWAYS makes me check all my devices for notifications =.=

This is wild. Poverty is rife in South Africa and people will take ANYTHING, and are often very grateful for it. Probably an indicator that most homeless people here are thus from economic factors and not personal factors.
