“Bikes may be an easy strawman, but blaming them without evidence just inflames tensions on the road — and distracts us from finding real solutions,” writes @EmmaMci about Doug Ford’s move to limit bike lanes (and also build a tunnel under Highway 401). thenarwhal.ca/doug-ford-limi…

Tunnel under 401, bike lane limits won’t ease Toronto traffic | The Narwhal

Doug Ford’s wants to take Toronto bike lanes off major roads and build a tunnel under Highway 401 — but neither plan will help drivers

Blacknose dace leaping at the base of a dam - throughout the day and continuously, yet the following day there were none. Interesting!

Love watching the wild Chinook salmon migration every fall. Looks like another huge run this year - will it top last year's 30,000 fish record for this one river? #nature #wildlife

My story in The Narwhal about DFO's recovery strategy for this fish - and why it won't work.

Redside dace have become a poster child for the fight against Doug Ford’s Highway 413 project. A new federal strategy for the endangered minnow's recovery isn’t likely to tip the scales in the fish’s favour, according to biologist @kpeiman1 thenarwhal.ca/federal-strate…

Wild Chinook salmon in a shallow pool, resting before navigating the rock steps. These conditions, made by the town to lower the level of the river to reduce flooding, slow down fish. #nature #salmon

A fun picture i just took of a cormorant eating a sea lamprey (yes, the lamprey was alive and yes, the cormorant did eat it).

'Protecting' wild fish AFTER the largest run ever? So that this easy to monitor river is closed, but all the small runs (also wild but no protection) now will have increased pressure? And opening up the repeat-spawing wild steelhead to increased angling? Makes no sense.
