I am very glad that Donald Trump will be paying the military during the shutdown! Congress should have done it! They should have done it immediately. It is great that they won't miss a paycheck!
Mike Johnson is an embarrassment. He stops Congress early and he refuses to swear in the Democrat from Arizona. Is Epstein the issue? Is his name in the file? The GOP would do better to remove him. This is a distraction from what Congress should be doing for no benefit.
The Trump Peace Plan for Gaza seems an incredible accomplishment! I will pray that the hostages are released by Monday. I will pray that peace comes to Gaza. I will pray that Hamas surrenders and the war ends. Congratulations to Trump and Kushner for this accomplishment!
As state capitalism moves ahead under Trump, as Congress and Supreme Court become irrelevant, as POTUS takes charge of states and previously independent govt agencies such as FRB, is ANYONE in favor this? One-sided power grabs are not justice, transparency, or accountability.
x is getting quite boring as every Republican and every Democrat repeat the same talking points independent of their truth. Claimed outrage and demonization of the other side is more important than facts or fairness. So many likes and views. Why? Boring and sad.
The DOJ oversight hearing was a disaster. Bondi must apologize and consider resigning. Professionalism and independence are required for DOJ. Both parties are expected to ask tough questions. Soft questions or personal attacks by Bondi are not acceptable!
The real issue for the shutdown: is it worth cutting 3 trillion from healthcare to give tax cuts to the very rich? GOP must defend why we need these tax cuts and why we need to cut healthcare benefits. Or, compromise with Dems. Stop the lies about illegals!

Can anyone explain why Diana Buttu doesn't want the war ended and hostages released? How can any ethical person be against the hostages being released immediately, Hamas laying down its arms, and the war in Gaza being ended? Perfect should not stop the end to this horror!
Van Jones is right. The Democrats are doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. If people don't realize that prices are going up, they won't agree with the Dems. The better policy to agree to the clean CR and then revisit the issue later. When prices go up, they have their issue.

I don't see any way Dems win on the shutdown. Even if they get their requests, there's no guarantee that Trump won't ignore the spending agreement as he has done for USAID and PBS. If Dems yield, they look weak. If they resist, it is just performative... unless it wins voters.
