Medieval women were responsible for the healthcare of their households and practiced medicine within their communities, but their names were rarely recorded. The digitisation project #CuriousCures aims to bring their medical practices to light! Below: Trinity College, MS O.2.48

Finally, there is a recipe against jaundice that is associated with “Lady Elizabeth Scrope” (Jesus College, MS Q.G.25). Elizabeth would have tried the medicine, involving milk mixed with the powder of red sandalwood, on herself when she was pregnant. @JesusCollegeCam

On #InternationalWomensDay, #CuriousCures puts the spotlight on three women medical practitioners! First up is a plaster against gout that is attributed to "Mistress Roppysley" and "Mistress Wallwyn" (CUL, MS Ee.1.15) involving beeswax, peach, clove, mace, saffron, and red wine.

I might yet build my dream shed ;-) Seriously if anyone with limited woodworking knowledge is looking for a course run by inspiring, supportive tutors I would highly recommend this one when @centre_alt_tech re-run it.

Hope everyone had as much fun on the ‘Build a Shed – For Absolute Beginners’ course as we did! Thanks to the tutors Emma and Katharine and to all those that came along.
