The relationship between the grass eaters (zebras, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, antelopes), and meat eaters (Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, Crocodiles) is so fascinating!
#Elephant weird fact: male elephants become sexually active between 25-35 yro but Female elephants starts to be active at 5 yro! In nature it makes sense - to maximize the window for increasing population. #pregnancy takes 18 months.
The #elephants has a life span of ~65 years. They weigh ~5,750 KG (male) and mainly eat leaves. They use their trunk for everything (eating, drinking, colling off, smelling, navigating, communicating) and they have very good #survival chances!
#Wildebeests are referred to as a stupid, ugly animal! Their main predator is the #lion, and so most of the wildebeests get eaten by predator and do not get to die of natural causes.
Despite their awesome swimming skills, about 2,000 of them die while crossing because of sharp rocks or because they get eaten by crocodiles!
There are 2 million wildebeests in the Serengeti – and every year between June – Oct(ish) they cross the river in groups hoping to find more grass to eat and water to drink.
We started at the Northern part of the #Serengeti hoping to catch the big migration of the #wildebeests crossing the Mara River in search for food & water. We saw it!

This picture is from a chapter in the book called - Women in the Workforce - Various Professions. Women have been taken advantage of for labor since the beginning of time. Still, women's employment (paid, underpaid, and unpaid) is the backbone of our society and our economy.
