I worked on this at Twitter in 2015. IIRC we tested it and most people didn't get any views and we had to have some thresholds before showing it as "0 views" was depressing We also wanted to be accurate and not count if someone quickly scrolls past your tweet in their TL
Twitter is rolling out View Count, so you can see how many times a tweet has been seen! This is normal for video. Shows how much more alive Twitter is than it may seem, as over 90% of Twitter users read, but don’t tweet, reply or like, as those are public actions.
The past 2 weeks have been surreal. My mother became psychotic and was involuntarily committed. My father died two days later. My mother is out now and needs 24/7 care. My sisters & I just launched a GoFundMe to help take care of her. Thanks for any help. gofundme.com/f/4g6bd-taking…
Hi, Twitter Fam just wanted to say our final good byes. It’s been a pleasure serving you this past 11 years. Twitter really made us feel apart of the culture and we will never forget that. 🎤🎤 drop

It's time for a thread on why Twitter hasn't gone down yet 🧵

A buddy who's interested in end-to-end encryption (E2EE) but hasn't done one of these projects in the very messy place which is the real world happened to ask me this morning about pitfalls which might not be obvious. So here's a partial list in the hopes that it's helpful. 🧵
In case the end is nigh, my fav twitter moment was a highly improbable crossing of paths that reconnected me to a stranger I'd shared a Greyhound bus ride with almost 20 years prior...
I never expected Twitter to become the main character of Twitter
Families of the tragedy in Itaewon are releasing details of their loved ones. This is a thread of who they are. Reading their names, seeing their faces, and learning about their stories broke me. Thank you to @VeryAsian for posting on IG #itaewon
