The idea that Britain is a ‘powder keg’ because of its diversity is in itself stunningly racist. Millions of us live in diverse families bound by ties of love & respect that are as combustible as granite.
The longest sentence handed down to a violent racist rioter this week is shorter than the sentences imposed on entirely peaceful environmental protesters last month. Labour must repeal the Tory laws that treat peaceful protest more severely than violent disorder and assault.
If the going rate is 4 or 5 years for a zoom call to plan a peaceful road block, what would be appropriate for those who invade a grieving, traumatised community, 24 hours after the deaths of three little girls, to participate in a full blown race riot?
