It has been a fine winter for capturing the aurora on camera, with some spectacular displays from time to time. This one occurred on the evening of 27th February. Location - Ardhasaig, North Harris.

Itโs one of the best roadside vistas in Scotland, whatever the weather, and itโs easy to understand why the layby is packed with visitors and cameras in the summer months. Locally, we probably tend to take it for granted, but sometimes you need to stop and pay your respects! ๐
Levels of aurora activity last weekend were exceptional with outstanding displays over three consecutive nights. The (mostly) clear skies and calm conditions were a bonus, but breaking low cloud at Luskentyre on Sunday evening, produced a pleasingly dramatic effect!

Wednesday's aurora activity remained largely hidden behind cloud and light rain for much of the evening, although the skies did clear later to reveal a pretty lively display above Bunavoneadar and the hills of North Harris.
