It’s Holocaust Memorial Day. This year, I’m thinking of a woman called Sulamita Szapiro. Here she is as a student. We weren’t related and I don’t even know much about her, but I’m pretty sure that remembering her still falls to me. This is a thread about why.

Ashkenazi Jews are a Levantine people. We were never accepted in European society. Instead, always seen as the "other" & blamed for society's ills. Some of us may have white skin & the privileges that it comes w in the modern Western world. But that doesn't undermine our origin.
