Another rural Iowa hospital is ending birthing services. There are nearly 38,000 people in Jasper County, and this was the only medical facility that offered labor and delivery services.

RURAL HOSPITAL NEWS: Newton Clinic and MercyOne Newton Medical Center is pausing all OB services (labor and delivery) indefinitely starting Oct. 15, and they will be investigating other care models and options to provide these types of services to rural areas. Statement here:

This is happening in Iowa. And when I asked House Republicans if there were any protections for parents against tuition increases, I was informed the schools are "private businesses" who can do what they want. It's time to hold those who pushed for vouchers in Iowa accountable.

Spoiler: This happens in EVERY state that adopts school vouchers. The wealthiest people in the state benefit from having their private school tuition supplemented while the working poor pay for it. They then raise the prices to keep the poors out of the choice places.
