Basically yes. ScotGovt have decided to create the most complex and ‘ambitious’ DRS for no apparent reason. Most other countries launch a DRS with one or two container types and over time ramp up. However the proposed DRS is ‘Big Bang’ approach and will self destruct on launch.

3. Glass should never have been included in Scotland’s DRS. We already have high levels of kerbside / local authority glass recycling. Hospitality have almost 100% recycling of glass. Most successful DRS exclude glass for that reason. England’s DRS won’t include glass.

2. It is not like the old fashioned glass bottle returns of the 70s/80s The DRS is not a reuse and refill scheme. It is a collection scheme that will smash glass bottles and sell the recyclate to the highest bidder. The name Circularity Scotland is a misnomer. @Circ_Scotland

1. Comparing it to other DRS in other countries is misleading. The Scottish DRS has been created from scratch and as a result is extremely complex to the point that it is totally unworkable. It doesn’t work for producers, hospitality or consumers. It will also increase CO2.
