When I find it hard to write, I look back and feel grateful to have written.
In Contraband Bodies when I wrote "hundreds are wading through the butane eye of the Mediterranean flailing in the brine" I was thinking about the form of despair, desperation, and unquantifiable loss of leaving, of drowning, of dying. "I have no stomach to keep sea stories."

Publications were never meant to measure a writer’s worth. Take it easy on yourself, live, do other things, read deeply, do not be shallow in your thinking, no this is not about the metaphors you have studied so well and recycled in your poems.
I believe one of the most uncomfortable, yet necessary things to do is to confront the fact that you're capable of doing terrible things. Admitting you're not always a good person and that you've done some messed-up stuff is actually a major step towards becoming a better person.
Just an FYI, ALL smartphones (iPhone AND Android) and laptops use materials from Congo - mainly cobalt for batteries, plus tantalum, tin, and tungsten. The entire electronics industry exploits it. Every major tech company sources these critical minerals from DRC. Not just Apple.
