Lunch with a small business owner. Desperate to grow. 7 employees. 70 grand wages a quarter. Accumulative tax bill last quarter £110k ! Desperate to hire more people. But can’t afford it. Single biggest barrier to growth: they are choked off by the state. Sigh.
