I like @fibery_io's user-respecting design pattern here -> Sometimes a bot (aka searching the docs) is enough, other times they've delivered thoughtful human support and actually shipped fixes. Refreshing to choose.
i turned off autocorrect on the iphone bc it consistently butchered actual english words and any new terminology , i miss the emoji suggestions because i would actually use them, but not enough to tinker with the settings cry
Hand wrote some code today just to feel something
Last time I toured apartments I was shown some nifty units that have an automated space saving closet. After 10+ years of IT all I could imagine is the day I need to get dressed for a meeting and my closets back-end is down. #optionaldystopia #smartdevices
Woke up because my AI controlled bed is too cold. Went to adjust temperature and I can’t because the Eight Sleep app is currently broken. Can’t adjust by hand because I have a Pod3, not the upgraded Pod4 with physical controls. Now I am stuck in a cold bed. This feels dystopian.
So that’s what happened to Google cloud..
I was fired from the Google Cloud team today. During a routine maintenance task, I renamed a production Kubernetes cluster to yølø-1. Turns out the system wasn’t designed to handle extended Latin characters. The cascade failure brought down a non-trivial portion of the internet…
my girlfriend bought chatgpt plus after seeing me research and getting citation links her reward: no clickable links trapped in secret UX a/b testing gulag with no feedback button. maybe someday paying users will taste the sweet fruit of basic functionality @OpenAI #darkpatterns
The personal health interventions we currently have are so well known but crude (diet, exercise, sleep) that applying tech to health/wellness usually just feels like inventing diff forms of police to me. The rings, the watches, the bands all just feel like the sleep police, the…
We could fund twice as many private space missions if we switched the entire bureaucracy from enterprise to business standard
Giving a research topic and expected outcomes to @OpenAI’s GPT-4 “deep research” mode is almost as powerful as google was in 2016, just instead of clicking through all the o’s you have to wait
the age of the startup has just begun. ai enables counter-positioning, but not in the "core" tech industry. all tech companies are becoming ai-enabled. but an ai-enabled competitor to a legacy company is a huge opportunity.
i feel like i really need to write about this but the age of the startup is over every win will be by, or funded by, an incumbent from now on this is because there has been no new platform shift, no complete board flip that allows for counter-positioning
