My latest article in @NikkeiAsia argues for India to fully allow private sector in the nuclear energy sector. Budget announcement on SMRs and recent reports of private sector interest are encouraging. However, effective implementation is key. asia.nikkei.com/Opinion/It-s-t…

Apropos the terr attack in India's Red Fort: that much explosives, so many well placed people, in total secret is a sign of foreign sponsorship. In this case, it follows the SOP of Pakistan. The issue is whether India can afford to conventionally retaliate after every attack?

Look at how much we contaminate our crime scene. In past, investigation agencies have lost crucial evidence because of crime scene contamination and yet no lessons learnt. Idiots are standing there just looking, not even there to help anyome. Not a serious country.

Close to the heels of arrest of multiple terror elements, a massive blast in the heart of Delhi. One of the biggest acts of terror this year. The extent of damage explains the intensity of the blast.

Don’t be so sure about the security of any place with high crowd density. All the checks that occur at chandni chowk are within metro stations; none outside. You go to Janpath market and you’ll still see two metal detectors propped up like toys, which have long broken down.

Red Fort is supposed to be one of the most secure places in Delhi. Today’s blast raises serious questions about our on-ground security measures.

Earlier this year, the Bombay HC acquitted all the accused involved in the 2006 blast. The court had good reasons for it. The agencies did a terrible job of building the case. If we cannot secure a conviction 19 years down the line, where is the deterrence for the next one?

What's left unsaid in the article are the next steps if other countries don't counter. - China's overcapacity will wipe out firms in other countries - When things heat up, it will impose new export control will come on solar modules, wind turbine nacelle parts etc. - energy…

China is now making more money from exporting green technology than America makes from exporting fossil fuels. This trend will continue simply because renewables are cheap. By the end of last year, the country had installed 887 gigawatts of solar-power capacity—close to double…

Not a series of legal moves by an Army leadership which sees is position as well consolidated and beyond any challenge in Pakistan. Only displays their growing insecurity and fear of losing control:

The proposed amendment to Article 243 effectively transforms the military’s de facto power into de jure authority. 1. The COAS will simultaneously serve as the Chief of Defence Forces. 2. The Field Marshal (also the current COAS) has been given presidential immunity.

A layman’s take👇on the huge shortfall in our nuclear power generation. While Dr Bhabha was obviously over-optimistic, DAE grossly underestimated challenges of FBR development. Politicians have failed to grasp importance of nuclear power & to prod the scientific community.
