If you’re not from India and you ever meet someone from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) who studied Computer Science, know that they took an examination that ~1,000,000 students spent 4 years preparing for and were (likely) in the top 300. They’re geniuses.
A common source of disappointment is recency bias: weighing the last week more heavily than the last year. Zooming in on the immediate past magnifies slumps. Zooming out farther reveals upward slopes. Progress is rarely visible at a snapshot in time. It unfolds over a lifetime.
When groups meet to brainstorm, good ideas are lost. People bite their tongues due to conformity pressure, noise, and ego threat. A better approach is brainwriting: generate ideas separately, then meet to assess and refine. Group wisdom begins with individual creativity.

I'm curious - do you know any interesting examples of people making money from "tools for developers"? I'm thinking of, eg. a generative art tool that lets you export svg patterns for a small fee. Really anything infinitely scalable that isn't ads and keeps the tool partly free
Alright, first time using Unity in probably seven years and the first actual test of the M1: bouncing ball, let's go!
Absolutely nuts paper by researchers from U Chicago analyzing the productivity of 10,000 workers before and after the pandemic. Conclusions: WFH led to 2 more hrs of work per day, more meetings, less focus time, and *less productivity* bfi.uchicago.edu/wp-content/upl…

Dear @stats_canada, please provide an option to complete the long-form survey in future years. I love the fact that you make so much quality information freely available to all, and would happily give you more data points. Thanks!
"Vaccines are safe" is the wrong message. Instead of dismissing fears, try acknowledging them: "We don't know the long-term impact of vaccines. We also don't know the long-term impact of COVID. From the available data, the benefits outweigh the risks." shorturl.at/kvHL2

Messing around with AWS Polly reminds me of tweaking punctuation in Dr Sbaitso trying to get Ice-T's cadence just right.. it was a much simpler time!
