An experiment demonstrating how mangroves protect coastlines. Other habitats such as coral reefs and kelp forests also provide a similar function.

More of this please 🌱🌊🌱🌊🌱 #Seagrass covers just 0.2% of the #ocean but provides about 10% of its carbon storage ...and seagrass restoration efforts help so many other areas like #fisheries, water quality and #biodiversity

Coral fluorescence, or “glowing” coral, is a last line of defense before coral dies and bleaches. We're working to raise awareness about the need to protect corals with the @Ocean_Agency through the #GlowingGone campaign. #ClimateAction bit.ly/3afz5Zo

Coral Reefs May Be Wiped Out by 2100. Can We Save Them? | NBCLX

New research shows that climate change could kill nearly all coral reef habitats in oceans around the world by 2100. #NBCLX storyteller @bgraulau talked to the experts and environmentalists who are trying to stop the death of these fragile ecosystems: youtu.be/ooPDjZ-70iM

In a desperate bid to survive, some corals glow in vibrant colour. Having lost 50% of the world’s reefs in the last 30 years, it’s a warning we can’t afford to ignore. Get involved with @GlowingGone ▶️ glowing.org #GlowingGone

⚠️ Marine heatwaves are more deadly to coral reefs than bleaching ⚠️ As oceans are increasingly becoming warmer, the conditions are making corals attract bacteria which speed up the breakdown process – and much more rapidly than previously thought. bit.ly/2AF9ppG

Coral spawning last night in Curacao was crazy-go-nuts Here's endangered O. faveolata (Mountainous star coral) spawning Day 6 after the full moon, 3 hrs 26 mins after sunset... in other words, right on schedule.

About time #seagrass gets some of the spotlight 🌱 UK to start large scale restoration of this ‘wonder plant' (that not only protects coastlines but also absorbs carbon 35x faster than rainforests) helping to tackle #climatechange bbc.com/news/uk-wales-…

We need more companies to follow @Accenture’s example by getting involved in ocean conservation. It’s great for business and is vital to accelerate conservation action.
