Good morning NOT from the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry, but Wallis Towers where I have been marooned since marching to Walton station only to find someone had kidnapped all the trains. I am still going to live-tweet the inquiry thanks to the magic of the internet. 🧵

In which I explain why the main longterm effect of the Scottish hate-crime law will be a lot more "misgendering", plus some advice to trans-identifying people who find misgendering offensive: "Do not demand compliance, as refusal often offends."

Scotland’s government and police seem determined to turn themselves into a laughing stock, writes @HJoyceGender thecritic.co.uk/a-sound-of-row…

Imagine Iran firing 30 cruise missiles, 110 ballistic missiles and 170 drones at the UK. Would we shrug our shoulders, sigh, "Oh well, that's just the Iranians doing what the Iranians do" and 'take the win'? Or might we just, do you think, perhaps, possibly, conceivably, consider…

Liri, Shiri, Shay 💔 It’s unbelievable that we are still counting the days, and they haven’t come home yet. Too much time has passed while they are all still there. THE TIME IS NOW! We must bring them all back home. Now! #bringthemhomenow 🎗️

The “ceasefire now” protest turned into “more fire” when they found out the Islamic republic is attacking Israel. Maybe, just maybe, it was never about peace to begin with?

I have gained a fair few new followers over the last 24hours, a lot seem to have just become aware of me and my case. I want to share this video that was released by @SpeechUnion at the beginning of February. Please, watch this if you haven’t seen it already. Thankyou…

Watch this video to find out about our latest case — it's arguably our biggest yet! A @NUFC fan, Linzi Smith, has been banned from attending games until 2026 for expressing her 'gender critical' belief that sex is binary and immutable. That part of the story is bad enough. BUT...

It’s been an enormous joy and privilege to serve as a minister over most of the last 8 years. I’m proud of all we have achieved as a government, not least being the first major economy to halve CO2 emissions. I look forward to supporting the PM from the backbenches.

Some MPs' cowardice, or a genuine lack of knowledge about what was happening is one thing. But pretending you got it, were against the ideology all along and were too scared to speak up while others were being bullied for doing so makes you lower than a snake's belly....1/

Maybe she's too young to remember the last five times there were only "N years to save the planet". But then again, she claims to be a 'researcher on eco-anxiety'. So it's the sort of thing she ought to know about. Maybe she thinks irrational eco-anxiety is a Good Thing.

This is terrifying. Not the headline... I'm familiar with the science. No, what's terrifying is how far I had to dig through my news notifications to find this story. What's terrifying is that this headline is not #trending on every social media platform. 1/4

Aha. The plot thins. Lackeys and hacks, on behalf of eco-billionaires. Same old, same old.

I’m in awe of our Visiting Prof, @JMPSimor KC, and @gardencourtlaw colleague, @mwillersqc, who led on seismic @KlimaSeniorin case, working closely with experts & activists to safeguard our fundamental human right to be protected from “serious adverse effects of climate change”.

This is the bottom line of every single activist I’ve ever engaged with on this issue, but rarely have I seen it stated so honestly. ‘Why can’t you just believe, it’s so weird you care, why make this complicated, just accept the slogan.’

National Grid has said it will need to spend £120 billion upgrading the transmission grid for Net Zero. Its modelling suggests the distribution grid will be more than three times as much. That's half a trillion pounds, nearly £20k per household, just for the wires. Madness.
