This week, UNHCR Rep Mrs. @AissatNdiaye met with #Gambella Regional President Mrs. Alemitu Omod & VP Dr. Gatluak Ruon to join efforts towards peace in the region for both refugees & host communities and advocate for adequate support for the region.
In #Tigray, displaced women are turning to poultry to rebuild their lives. To help them get started, UNHCR provided 600 chickens, 30 quintals of feed and essential supplies to womenโs groups in Shire, strengthening their livelihoods, resilience and self-reliance.
Periods do not stop in emergencies. Thanks to ๐ช๐บ IM3 Project, +12,000 displaced women and girls in Afar, Amhara, Benishangul-Gumuz & Tigray now have menstrual health kits to manage their periods safely and with dignity. ๐๐ฝ@EUinEthiopia @DicacRAAD @planethiopia @IHSethiopia

A great pleasure to be in Kakuma with @BarhamSalih on his 1st trip as High Commissioner. Despite funding cuts & other challenges, we witnessed how #Kenyaโs inclusion policies on education, self-reliance, health & sport improve the lives of refugees & their hosts. #Shirika
I saw how refugees have access to healthcare, education, and play an active part in society benefiting the whole community. This is how we move from aid dependency to self-reliance. Kenya is doing its part. It needs greater international support.
